Ioan Horga

Professor Dr. Ioan Horga is the Vice-President of the Romanian Association of International Relations and European Studies as well as the Dean of the Faculty of History, International Relations, Political Sciences and Communication Sciences at the University of Oradea.

As a professor in International Relations and European Studies, he earned a rich teaching and research experience. He currently teaches IRES courses of for Bachelor Programs and Security Studies courses for both Bachelor and MA Programs. He is also the coordinator of three Jean Monnet Programs (Chair in 2002, European Excellence Centre in 2005 and a Multilateral Research Group), as well as the coordinator of other national and international grants.

The field of his expertise is in regional territorial development, the evolution of frontiers and the development of cross-border cooperation, the evaluation of the cohesion policies, regional security and the curricular evolution of European studies.

Among his most important recognitions and rewards there could be mentioned his membership of the Doctoral School in International Relations and European Studies of the Babes Bolyai University, as well as being an associate professor at the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration and a guest professor for several well-known foreign universities, such as Alicante and Salamanca (Spain), Bratislava and Banska Bistrika (Slovakia), Brescia, Bologna, Siena, Ca’Foscari Venetia (Italy), Coimbra (Portugal), Krakow, Lublin, Rszeszow, Wroclaw (Poland), Prague (Czech Republic), Montpelier, Nancy, Reims, Sciences Po Paris (France), Hannover (Germany), Maribor (Slovenia).

Starting 2008 he is a member of the Committee for Political Sciences, Sociology, European Studies and Communication of the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and in 2012 he also became a member of the Committee for social, political and communication sciences of the National Council for the Attestation of University Titles and Certificates.
