Professor Dr. Vasilea Docea is the Vicepresident of the Romanian Association of International Relations and European Studies and the coordinator of the German studies section within the Faculty of Political Sciences, Philosophy and Communication Sciences of the West University from Timisoara.
He was awarded the title of Doctor in History at the University Alexandru Ioan Cuza in Iaşi, with the thesis „The Romanian-German Relations in the first half of the XIXth century”. He is also the General Director of the Central University Library „Eugen Todoran” in Timişoara.
His field of expertise refers to the history and theory of international relations and the history of institutions. Together with Smaranda Vultur and Robert D. Reisz, he is the editor of the interdisciplinary journal of political analysis Colloquium Politicum, and in the past he was the Chief Editor of the Annuary released by the Institute of History „A.D. Xenopol” in Iaşi.
The specialist in history and politology Vasile Docea earned for the period 1993-1995 a DAAD research grant in Germany at the Albrecht-Ludwig-Universität of Freiburg im Breisgau.
